06/03/2007 - Letter of support from King's Mill Hospital
|
The neonatal unit at King's Mill offers a high level of medical and nursing care to premature and sick newborns from the North Nottinghamshire area. We have a total of 18 neonatal cots and can provide intensive care to 3 babies at a time and offer High Dependancy Care to a further 2 or 3 such babies. In any one year we have around 200 admissions to the neonatal unit, and deliver about 500 days of intensive care to such infants. The neonatal unit at Kings Mill functions as part of a network of units across Nottinghamshire, and, as such, we have recently agreed that the smallest and most premature of infants (who deliver before 27 weeks gestation) are cared for by colleagues in Nottingham.
The neonatal unit is staffed by specially trained doctors and nurses, who rely on a range of specialist equipment for the monitoring and protection of newborn babies. We are always very grateful for the support that we receive from our local community, and will endeavour to purchase equipment in line with your specific requests.
Many thanks to the Synseal staff in advance of their help.

Paediatrician & Associate Clinical Director
